Practical Accessibility Training for the Real World
Web accessibility isn't complicated. But it is complex.
Â
Every day, public-sector professionals create websites, documents, images, social media posts, videos, forms, and other digital content that people rely on. You don't need to become a coder or an accessibility specialist to create accessible content. You need to understand how the content you create is experienced by the people who use it, including people who use assistive technology.

That's what we teach.

Public Sector Digital Media Academy provides practical digital media training for the people who create, manage, and publish information for the public. Accessibility is at the core because accessible content isn't something you bolt on at the end of the process. It starts with how you create the content in the first place.

Our goal is simple: give you the knowledge to recognize accessibility barriers, make better decisions about the content you create, and build accessibility into the work you're already doing.
Taught by a Practitioner, Built on Experience
This isn't training written by a professional trainer who happens to know accessibility or an AI compilation built by a social media influencer. This is real-world training created by a public-sector accessibility practitioner.

Ten years ago, I became responsible for a school district website and discovered that accessibility wasn't something I could simply check off a list. I went to training, attended conferences, studied the standards, and asked a ton of questions. Along the way, I learned how to turn complicated accessibility requirements into practical decisions for the people actually creating digital content.

That's where these courses came from. Learn more about my story and how this training was slowly and methodically developed on the Meet the Instructor page.
Built for Public-Sector Communications Professionals
You don't have to be a web developer, coder, commercial designer, professional photographer, or a Hollywood director. You just have to be the person who maintains the website, makes the graphic, edits the photo, publishes the video, builds the document, or manages the content. That's who PSDMA is built for.

Our courses are designed around a simple principle: give people practical, actionable steps they can understand and put to work right away. No unnecessary technical jargon. No assumption that you already know how the technology works behind the scenes. Just clear instruction in plain language, focused on the work you're actually trying to get done.

Web Accessibility Fundamentals is the first course, with additional digital media courses in development. The subject may change, but the approach won't. Learn what you need to know. Understand why it matters. Put it to work.
Accessibility Is More Than Compliance
Accessibility isn't going away. It's part of the law, it's part of how public agencies serve people, and the expectations around it aren't getting any smaller. But beyond the legal landscape, accessibility speaks to the very heart of our mission. At its core, it's about making sure the information you're putting out there can actually be used by the people who need it.

That mission guided the creation of our first course, Web Accessibility Fundamentals. It is designed to give you the tools to not only satisfy the regulatory guidelines, but also to ensure that every stakeholder can engage with the content you work so hard to create. And when you're ready to bring that training to your organization, we'll work with your procurement process too. Quotes, purchase orders, vendor paperwork. We've got it covered.
