Public Sector Digital Media Academy (PSDMA) is a brand of Train 11 LLC.For the past decade, I have enjoyed teaching at conferences and online seminars. In 2022, I began teaching in-person accessibility boot camps. I enjoyed being able to work directly with people and help them put what they were learning to work, but there was one problem: my schedule only allowed me to reach so many people.I wanted to make that same training available to more people, without requiring them to wait for the next workshop or find a day when everyone's schedules happened to line up. That's why I built Public Sector Digital Media Academy, offering practical digital media and accessibility courses that you can take on demand, when it works for you.PSDMA grew out of those in-person workshops, but the goal remains the same: practical training that helps public-sector professionals do their jobs better.
I began writing Web Accessibility Fundamentals over Spring Break in 2026. I started by going back through my old training materials, researching new developments and case law, and rebuilding the course from the ground up.Then things got a little more interesting. I set up a green-screen studio in my garage and began filming the modules, creating handouts, sourcing stock footage, and building the on-screen graphics. The course continued to evolve throughout the editing process. I regularly added, removed, and clarified material as I worked through each module, with the goal of making the information as clear, practical, and accurate as possible. The result is a course built from years of teaching and experience, but rebuilt specifically for the communications professionals who actually have to create and manage digital content.
Our courses are designed for public-sector professionals who create, manage, or publish digital content. That includes webmasters, communications and public information staff, social media managers, content creators, and other professionals who are responsible for getting information out to the public. You don't need to be a programmer, web developer, professional designer, or accessibility specialist. If you're the person who updates the website, creates the graphic, publishes the social media post, edits the video, or manages the content, these courses are built with you in mind. The goal is practical training you can put to work in the job you're already doing.
Right now, our first course is available:Web Accessibility Fundamentals A practical introduction to web accessibility for the people who create, manage, and publish digital content. It focuses on understanding accessibility requirements and applying them to the work you already do, without requiring you to become a programmer or accessibility specialist. Our next course, Document Accessibility, is currently in development and is expected to launch in late November 2026.More courses covering other areas of digital media are planned as the Academy grows.
